Applied Sales Representative

Since 1949, Kerr Controls Ltd. has been a trusted family-owned wholesale distributor of HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) products, serving residential, commercial, and applied markets. With 13 branches across Atlantic Canada and Ontario, we continue to expand our capabilities—most recently adding leading applied brands such as Carrier to our growing portfolio. As we strengthen our technical offerings and broaden our market impact, we remain committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions, expert support, and exceptional customer service.

We are seeking an Applied Sales Representative with a strong HVAC background and a passion for building strategic customer relationships. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who thrives on driving sales growth, solving technical challenges, and supporting the success of both Kerr and our clients. If you’re passionate about HVACR systems, excel in a consultative sales environment, and want to grow your career with a company that invests in its people, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the sales team by preparing accurate quotations, gathering project details, and assisting with follow-ups.
  • Provide entry-level technical assistance, including basic system selection, product recommendations, and troubleshooting support—escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Apply critical thinking and a customer-first approach when responding to contractors, engineers, and internal teams.
  • Maintain positive customer relationships by providing timely, professional communication.
  • Work with engineers, consultants, and senior staff to help specify Kerr products for HVAC/hydronic projects.
  • Assist in reviewing drawings, submittals, equipment schedules, and other project-related documents.
  • Support system commissioning preparation by gathering documentation, reviewing start-up requirements, and coordinating information with the senior technical team.
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and tracking applied HVAC/R projects under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Help monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate procurement tasks such as obtaining pricing, confirming availability, and tracking shipment timelines.
  • Support site visits, project meetings, and customer check-ins alongside senior sales engineers when needed.
  • Assist branches with technical inquiries, product sourcing, and customer meetings.
  • Participate in staff training sessions and help deliver basic product overviews to internal teams as your technical knowledge grows.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by helping document processes, updating internal tools, and sharing customer feedback.
  • Engage in ongoing technical and professional development to build applied HVAC/R expertise.

This role may require occasional travel to support other Kerr branches. Let us know if you’re open to relocation or regional collaboration!

Qualifications:

  • Must currently be located in Atlantic Canada
  • Minimum 2 years in HVAC, with intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of HVAC and hydronic products
  • Strong B2B sales acumen with a consultative approach
  • Ability to create project quotations, provide lead-time updates, and support design-build solutions
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing technical and professional training
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills
  • Positive, team-first attitude and a customer-focused mindset
  • Flexibility to support colleagues across Kerr branches

What you can look forward to when you join our team:

  • Health, Dental, and Vision benefits, Paid Vacation Time, Company Matched Retirement Savings Plan (RPP), Employee Referral Program
  • We invest in our people through training, mentorship, and advancement opportunities.
  • Play a key role in shaping projects that enhance comfort, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Be part of a family-owned business with deep roots in the community and a supportive team environment.
  • Join a well-established industry leader with a 75-year reputation for excellence.
